Folks,

My Dec 2003 Roadster is poorly. The coolant seems to be getting over-hot and the engine is seriously lacking in power. Feels like the turbo isn't turbo-ing, the poor thing won't go over 70mph and acceleration is woeful.

Any ideas? Don't even know where to look for things like split pipes or clips come adrift...

Cheers guys!

You COULD be in safe mode. Have you tried to remove the battery negative for 10 mins or so and seeing what it does?

Safe mode cuts all power annd stop the turbo from spooling up much - and the lack of speed might contribute to the coolant ;-)

You might also have some degree of an airlock in the coolant.
Best way to test /get rid is to force it out. run the engine till its WARM (circa 70 on the gauge) and then stop the engine. get an old rag and quickly take the coolant lid off in the engine (the rag is to stop you getting burned). Make sure you have the car parked somewhere as the coolant might come out but it'll also take out any air.

Theres also a bleed screw in the bonnet (front) that you can consider undoing to see if it helps.

Try the battery first!

Thanks for you reply! But I've sussed it. The bottom intercooler hose on the turbo outlet has blown off. Now, how to get to it :-S ? From the bottom on a ramp I guess?

Thanks for your help

Pete mate,

Rain and W.O.R.K. have stopped play so far! Can't be doing with any more of this sh1t weather! Might see if a friendly RAC man would like to "investigate" what the problem is :-)

Just as a quick reminder,

Avoiding the swearing filter is against the rules ;-)

I'll let you off seeing as it was extremely correct :-P

Let me know how you get on!
